CATH – IDEATHON 2026

National Level Grand Idea Challenge

Theme: Mitigation of Human–Wildlife Conflict

About the Event

The Curiosity Council of Post-Graduate and Research Department of Botany, Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta is organizing a "Grand Idea Challenge" contest at the National level, titled Cath-Ideathon. The theme is “MITIGATION OF HUMAN-WILD LIFE CONFLICT”. This competition aims at exploring the skills and innovative ideas for Environment Conservation, from students.

Eligibility

  • Students pursuing Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate or Research programmes in the Arts, Science and Technology are eligible to participate in Cath-Ideathon

Team Rules

  • Students can participate in the contest individually or as a team (with a minimum of two and maximum of four participants).
  • Participant/the Participating team can submit ONLY ONE proposal for the Contest.
  • Participation in the Cath-Ideathon is subject to a “per-team” basis, which means participants are not allowed to be part of more than one team in the event.

Registration

  • Cath-Ideathon registration fee is Rs.250/- for individual participant or each team
  • The registration for the contest will be complete only after the participating individual or the team fill and submit the google form
  • Last date: 26 January 2026, 5:00 PM

Language Requirements

  • Medium of submission of material in connection with the Cath-Ideathon is English.
  • In case of submission in any language other than English, the participants must provide an English translation of the demonstration video, text description and testing instructions as well as all other materials submitted.

General Instructions

  • Participants can choose their own problem statement related to the theme “Mitigation of Human–Wildlife Conflict”.
  • The name of the participant(s) must be clearly specified as per College ID or institution records while filling the form.
  • Selected participant/teams must present their prototype on 11 February 2026 during the online final presentation.
  • The decision of the organizing committee on all matters relating to the Cath-Ideathon, including eligibility and selection of winners, is final.
  • The final decision on the number of winners eligible for prize money will be taken by the organizers.
  • Participants/Teams must ensure that all necessary consents, approvals, or licenses required for submission are obtained and that the entry does not violate any laws or rights.
  • Participants must attach a consent letter from the Head of the Institution along with the proposal documents.
  • Incomplete or indecipherable entries will be deemed invalid and disqualified.
  • The content of the entry and all supporting materials must be acceptable for all viewing audiences.
  • The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any entry containing data, code, text, sound, or images that are malicious, illegal, vulgar, offensive, or inappropriate for public viewing.
  • By submitting an entry, participants acknowledge that the submission complies with the official rules and that the entire work is original.
  • Every registered team will undergo preliminary evaluation, and only shortlisted teams will be invited to present their prototype.
  • All submissions must:
    • Be the original work of the participant/team
    • Be solely owned by the participant/team
    • Not violate intellectual property rights, including copyright, trademark, patent, contract, or privacy rights
  • By entering the contest, participants agree that the organizers are not legally bound to address violations related to the above requirements.
  • All innovations submitted will be kept confidential and securely handled by the organizers.

Mode of Submission (Preliminary Round)

  • After registration, the participant/team should upload a demonstration video of their proposal in their own Google Drive Account.
  • Then, they should make the link public (by providing access to view the file through any account) and send the link via email to: dobcathideathon@gmail.com
  • Along with the demonstration video the participants must attach the detailed draft of the proposal (including name, objective, methodology, related flow charts or diagrams and practical applications) and consent letter from the respective Head of the Institution.
  • Participants should complete the registration and submit their proposal on or before 26th January 2026, 5 pm.
  • Delayed submission, beyond the stipulated deadline will not be considered.
  • The selected participant/team must present their prototype in the Final Round Competition (online mode)
  • Final presentation: 11 February 2026 (Online)

Evaluation & Judgement

Eligible submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges selected by the Organizer.
Judging may take place in one or more rounds with one or more panels of Judges, as per the discretion of the Organizing committee.
All expenses or costs associated with the acceptance or use of the prize or any component of the prize is the responsibility of the winner. The prize is awarded “as is” and without any warranty.
Participants are bound by and comply with the official rules and the decisions of the administrator, and/or the Cath-Ideathon Judges which are binding and final in all matters relating to the Cath-Ideathon.
