In the department of Hindi Degree Programme was started in 1964 and P.G in 1968. The main library has a good collection of books. It has 8051 books related to Hindi. It also has 4 journals pertaining to the subject. The department was elevated to Research Centre in 1988. The department secures 100% pass in M.A. and B.A regularly and bagged several university ranks. The department has produced 40 Ph.Ds. Eight research guides have been registered to this department. The department has 1 on going UGC sponsored minor project and 5 minor projects submitted on 2015 and 74 publications in National journals and various magazines and published 2 books. The department has good departmental library, reading room and a computer room. Texts books are issued to students belong to SC/ST and minorities and they can keep it for six months. UGC has identified dept for PG Grant.

A one day Seminar on contemporary Hindi poetry was held on 7th Nov 2007 in which Dr.Kishorilal Vyas H O D Osmania University delivered the Key note address. A one day seminar on contemporary Hindi poetry was held on 15 th October 2008 in which Dr.Madhav Sing Hada, HOD of Govt.college, Sirohi, Rajasthan delivered the key note address. Dr.Babu Joseph HOD K.E College, Mannanm conducted a seminar on the same topic on 16 th Oct 2008. The dept. organized a one day orientation seminar on credit and semester and grading system in the college on 10th Sep 2009.The chief objective was to give an outlook of the newly implemented semester system among first year degree students. The programme include awareness of class about the methodology syllabi and general awareness of credit semester and grading system. The classes were completed in five hours. Rtd. Prof .C R Indira of NSS college Changanacherry and Prof. Tomychan Joseph of K.E college Mannanam handled the classes. The Dept. Conducted a UGC sponsored National Seminar on 27, 28 & 29th October 2009. M G University P V C Dr. Ravindranath, Dr. Kumar Amduj, Dr. Pallav took classes on contemporary Hindi poetry.
In 2010 the Dept. secured 100% pass in MA Examinations. On 26, 27 & 28th September 2013 department conducted another U G C sponsored National Seminar on ‘Contemporary Hindi Literature and Women Writing’. Dr. Rekha Panday, Dr. Padmapriya, Dr. Shanthi Nair, Dr.K Ajitha, Dr. R Jayachandran took classes.
On 17th June 2015 a one day Seminar was conducted on “Post Modernism and Hindi novels”.
Dr. Binay Kumar took classes on contemporary Hindi poetry.
15th Aug 2015 – Seminar on Bhishma sahni for degree students.
22nd Jan one day National Seminar on “New Dimensions and challenges of Hindi Language”. , Dr.Asgar wajahat took classes .
