Department News

The Post Graduate and Research Department of Physics at Catholicate College will host an ISRO Exhibition on 13–14 November 2025 at the Mar Baselios Auditorium from 10 AM to 4 PM.  |     The Department of Physics at Catholicate College will conduct a programme on the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology on 29 September 2025, featuring an invited lecture by Prof. Dr. V. P. N. Namboori at Mar Clemis Hall.  |     Moon Day Celebration will be held on July 21st 2025 at Catholicate College, featuring a morning interactive session and an afternoon digital card-making competition.  |     LUMINERIA – LED product sale will be organized by the Department Innovation and Incubation Cell and Electronic Circuit Club on 16 December 2024.  |     An International Seminar on Advances in Materials Research will be held with delegates from the Institute of Physics, Belgrade, Serbia on 06 December 2024.  |     A Space Exhibition will be conducted in collaboration with ISRO as part of National Space Day Celebration on 09 August 2024.  |     Moon Day will be celebrated with a talk by Dr. Suraj Soman, Senior Scientist, NIIST on 06 August 2024.  |     Add-on Courses with CADD Centre: AI & Design (02 Aug 2024 – 31 Mar 2025)  |     Career Talk on AI by Mr. Sunith, CEO, CICMS & LIVEWIRE (19 Jul 2024)  |     Merit Day celebration : (27/03/2024)  |     Workshop and training on assembling and maintenance on led lamps (22-27 March 2024)  |     2nd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ADVANCED NANOSTRUCTURES (ICAN-2024) : (22 -23 January 2024)  |     30 Hours certificate course on “Research and Publication Ethics” will start on 10th February 2023  |     International MoU signed between Department of Physics, Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta, Kerala, India & Institute of Physics Belgrade, Pregrevica 118, and Belgrade, Serbia.  |     30 Hours certificate course on Entrepreneurship in LED Lighting Business will start on 7th January 2023   |     45 Hours certificate course on Python for Data Science will start on 1st January 2023   |

International Travel Support

  • Dr. George Thomas received a SERB International Travel Grant to attend the Climate Change and Cities 2017 conference at PIK, Potsdam, Germany (19–21 September 2017).

  • Dr. George Thomas received a SERB International Travel Grant to attend the Urban Environmental Pollution Conference held in Beijing, China, in 2013.

Best NSS Program Officer Award

Asst. Prof. Sajith Babu S, secured the Best NSS Program Officer Award-M.G. University for the year 2020-2021.

Community Extension Programme

The Department of Physics, Catholicate College, organised a Space Exhibition as part of the Space Day Celebration in 2024, engaging around 200 participants through interactive learning and outreach activities.

Luminaria 2024, conducted by the Department of Physics, brought together participants for a community-oriented extension programme that promoted scientific awareness.

Under the auspices of the PG & Research Department of Physics, Community Extension Programme held on 13.07.2023 at Vallikode Grama Panchayath for manufacturing and repairing of LED lamps .

Mr. Sajith Babu S. obtained his Ph.D. from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, on 27th September 2024.
